31 Days of Halloween: Halloween Marshmallow Pops
As I have mentioned before, I am not the biggest baker. I was in the kitchen one night trying to think of a fun treat to bring to my son’s school that required little effort from me and that would still be impressive. As I started thinking, I looked over and right on my counter was a bag of marshmallows. After looking at them for several minutes an idea popped in my head…. I will just make marshmallow Halloween pops. No baking, absolutely adorable, easy and delicious!
What you will need for the pops:
- Jumbo Marshmallows
- Lollipop sticks (found at a craft store)
- Colored Candy Melts
What you will need for decoration:
- Candy eyeballs (Found at Michael’s)
- White Sugar Pearls (for Frankenstein)
- Green M&M’s (for the top of the pumpkin)
- Black Decorating Gel (for the mouth’s)
- Black Sugar Sprinkles. (I used Wilton)
Step 1: Attach your marshmallows onto your lollipop sticks.
Step 2: In a microwave safe mug, melt one color of your candy melt (follow the directions on the bag). I would do one type of marshmallow pop first so the other color melts don’t dry up while waiting to be used. Â Cover the whole marshmallow and let the excess drip off.
Step 3: Â Now here comes the fun part! Decorate your marshmallow pops!
For the Pumpkin:
Before the melts dry on your marshmallow, add a green M&M on top. Use black decorating gel to draw your pumpkin’s eyes and mouth. This would be fun to let the kids do as well!
For Frankenstein:
After you coat your marshmallow in the melted green melt, gently dip the top into your black sprinkles. I used a cupcake liner, poured the sprinkles in and then dipped that way. Next add the candy pearls to the sides of the marshmallow to give the appearance of the bolts, then your eyes. Make sure to do all this before the melt dries. With your black decorating gel, add on the mouth.
For the Mummy: Â Â
Dip your marshmallow pop into melted white melts, place two eyes on and let dry. Once it is dry, take the remaining melted white and drizzle the melted melt over the face and eyes to get the mummy look. I just used a spoon to drizzle with.
Step 4: We used a left over Styrofoam block we had to let the pops dry standing upright, but you can easily line a baking sheet with parchment paper and let them dry that way!
