Every Thanksgiving, I make this recipe and every Thanksgiving, I am asked for the recipe. I never have any left-overs and this year I think I am going to make a double batch to be sure we have extras for the days we eat left-overs! You MUST try this sweet potato casserole for your holiday dinner this year, I will be the hit of the party!

Ingredients
  • 3 cups cooked mashed sweet potatoes
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup butter (for potatoes)
  • ⅓ melted butter (for topping)
  • ⅓ cup evaporated milk
  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup whole or chopped pecans
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together sweet potatoes, white sugar, ½ cup butter, milk, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Pour in and spread evenly in baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together ⅓ cup melted butter or margarine, pecans, brown sugar, and flour. Mix well and sprinkle over sweet potato mixture.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes or until topping looks lightly toasted.
