Easy, no-fail homemade strawberry shortcake.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • Strawberries, sliced and tossed with a little sugar
Instructions
  1. Grease pie pan or eight-inch cake pan and preheat oven to 400.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together.
  3. Cut shortening into dry mixture, combining until mealy.
  4. Add milk and mix by hand.
  5. Pour batter into pie pan and bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown on top.
  6. Serve with strawberries. Pour some milk over cake or top with whipped cream.
