New Year, New Me – NYNM
It’s confession time. Last year, I lost over 30 lbs. I was doing great, feeling great and looking great. Then, I started letting myself slip back into old habits such as drinking Coke, not drinking enough water, skipping meals, snacking late and so much more. I quickly gained back over 15 lbs! Granted, I still am in a better place than I was last July when I started making healthy changes, but I am so disappointed in myself.
I decided that it’s a new year, time for a new me. I know that many people make new year’s resolutions to lose weight. That’s not what this goal is. My goal is to make healthy changes and stick to them. Every week, I’m going to write about my progress and the lifestyle changes I’m making. I want you to join me! You don’t even have to make the same changes I am making, because what works in one person’s life, doesn’t work for the next person.
So I’m starting at square one. As of January 1, I am 5’9″, 179 lbs. This means my Body Mass Index is 26.43–overweight. For my height, I need to weigh 169 lbs to have a BMI under 25 and not be overweight. My goal is to make some healthy changes and aim for a weight loss of 1-2 lbs a week. What are your weight loss goals?
By sharing my story, I hope to inspire others to make healthy lifestyle changes as well as hold myself accountable. I’m going to be blatantly honest and I encourage you all to share your stories, progress, set backs and more in the comments. I plan on trying to make one healthy change every week. I am excited at the opportunity for a fresh, positive start in living a healthy life and looking forward to you joining me on this adventure!
Stay tuned and read more next week to find out what the first healthy change I make is!
What will your first healthy change be?
