Simple Diaper Bag Must Haves For The Busy Mom
So you’re a busy mom, and you want to know what should be in your diaper bag. Now, if you’re a mom of multiples like me, you may have a pretty good idea. In fact, this list is quite simple and you may find you already have everything that you need! But there are just some simple diaper bag must haves that you….well, must have!
So let’s get straight to it.
1- Diapers & Wipes
This one goes without saying, right? This may be the most important diaper bag must have on the list! I have definitely forgotten these before, and let me tell you it is not fun forgetting diapers and wipes. Obviously, these are definitely a must. Our favorite brand of diapers is Costo Kirkland diapers! My kids have never leaked in these and we have been using them for almost 4 years!
If you use cloth diapers, I would pack some of those as well as an extra bag for them to go into!
2- Formula or Breastmilk
No matter how you’re feeding your baby, whether it’s formula, or you’re exclusively breastfeeding and pumping, or maybe you’re doing a mix of both- the baby needs to be fed! There’s nothing worse than your baby having to wait because you forgot it! I’ve been there- and it’s not fun!
If there are slots in the diaper bag these are the perfect place for the bottles!
3- Burp Rags
These are SO needed! These are mostly needed if you have an infant, because they really do save clothes sometimes from milk messes! We have a ton, so I try to remember to stick at least one in there! Just one goes a long way.
4- Two Changes of Clothes and a Pair of Socks
Now you could probably get by with one extra pair of clothes, but I say two just to be sure! We have all been there. You have just changed your baby because of soiled clothes, and then BAM, you need to change them again. But then milk gets spilled or they pee through their clothes!
It’s always good to have extra!
5- Medicine & Thermometer
This is totally a personal choice (as is this entire list), but I still wanted to mention it because it’s saved me from time to time! There are times when I have needed this and having both infant Tylenol/Motrin has saved the day! Did you know they recommend alternating Motrin and Tylenol?
It is also a great idea to have a thermometer as well! We like the one that scans across the forehead!
6- Water Bottle/Juice
There is something really special when your toddler asks for a drink, and you remembered to bring it! Makes you feel like super mom. Or maybe it’s just me? It also helps when it’s packed and we are gone for long periods of time! We don’t take our toddlers all the time for long periods of time, but when we do, it’s always nice to be prepared!
7- Snacks
This one is another one we don’t take every time, depending on how long we’re leaving and where we’re going. But, an extra snack especially at places like church and the park is the magical key to a calm toddler!
We like to take these types of snacks:
- Animal crackers
- Raisins
- Goldfish
- Fruit snacks
Just to name a few! We like the individual types of snacks for diaper bags. However, if needed we just put them in a sandwich bag!
8- Toys
This is just another thing that helps entertain and keep the peace just a little while longer! In the car, at church, at the park, at the bank, wherever you find yourself! It will come in handy!
Bonus: Pacifier
This is one of those things on the list that’s a personal choice. I know that not every parent uses a pacifier for their baby, and that’s totally okay! For us personally, we love pacifiers (up until a certain age!). My husband and I both have spots for them in our cars, so technically this not only goes in the diaper bag! But in the car, and a few places at home.
Well, there you have it!
I hope you found this list helpful! I’d love to know what you consider your diaper bag must haves! Tell me in the comments what else you pack in yours!
