10 Traits Men Think Women Slide By With – Do You Agree?
Nowadays, when the term “toxic” is tossed around all the time, certain behaviors remain surprisingly unchecked. Sparked by curiosity, a member of an online community posed a thought-provoking question to men: What are some toxic traits in women that often go unnoticed or unmentioned? The candid answers they provided might surprise you.
1. Calling Correction Mansplaining
One says that although he is a little of a smarty-pant, women call every correction mansplaining. He corrects people when they are factually wrong and has no problem when people reciprocate. This is a normal thing, and women are not above being wrong. A man is not always mansplaining when he corrects a woman.
2. Emotional Labor
Another contributor adds that an example of emotional labor is when service industry workers must always be cheerful. Despite their real feelings, they should always plaster a smile while serving the public.
Nowadays, people use the term when a friend overshares, or a partner isn’t pulling their weight in a relationship. They think people must behave like adults, communicate problems, and then work on solutions. Nobody needs to bear the emotional labor of listening to you complain about your concerns.
3. Happy Wife, Happy Life
Several answers cover the sad fact that most women use this phrase to justify their unreasonable demands. One person adds that people misunderstand this phrase, just as they misunderstood “the customer is always right.” It doesn’t mean that people should do whatever the customer wants.
4. Misconstrued Incompetence
Multiple men agree that most of what women call incompetence is just doing things differently. A man shares that his wife always tells him he places the cleaning supplies incorrectly. He cleans daily, but she doesn’t; that doesn’t matter.
Another thing he gets wrong is not hoarding the next four sizes of clothes for their kids while they shop. He goes for one size bigger. She also says he should always know how many days there are till the diapers run out.
Instead, he waits till the diaper bag is almost empty, then buys more. If he followed his wife’s advice, their house would be on Hoarders. He would be under constant stress trying to keep up with all the information by the minutiae.
5. Intimidating Assertive People
Some respondents concur that people who are always assertive and intimidating others while pushing them to get things done can be exhausting. Initially, they’re great but can wear people out and mold a negative work environment over time.
Unfortunately, such people always get promotions, but the management never understands why people quit.
6. Double Standards on Generalization
Did you find this question gender generalization? One man says that many people generalize the other gender but don’t like hearing stereotypes about their gender. People often call this out, but it still exists in some circles.
7. Interrupting Others
One user states that this is the height of bad manners. In every group of guys, there’s one that does this. He says he has a fun circle of local pals who regularly hang out in the pub. One of the guys in the group doesn’t shut up. For about two years, they treated this habit as a joke, but now everyone avoids him. He ruins every conversation by behaving like a spoiled child who never grew up. It’s astonishing.
8. Always Hopping on the Next Relationship
Singlehood is underrated. Another responder says it’s sad that people do not realize how awesome it is. Though their single days are over, they had a good time. They met many new people, enjoyed living alone, and could change their plans on a whim. It was a great time that gave them the freedom to get ready for an actual relationship.
9. Massive Egos
According to this man, people often mistake ego for confidence. You can tell the difference when you see how different guys handle failure. They’re usually super sensitive.
10. Piggybacking
Finally, one man adds that women posting videos on social media making fun of their husbands is toxic. Such women often frame it as a joke and say the husband knows he is loved. However, humiliating your husband for likes doesn’t make sense. He wonders what sort of self-loathing man would participate in such videos.
