Why I love ginger. Can you believe how many things ginger is good for!?!

Ginger is one of my favorite herbs, so today I’m sharing why I love ginger. Keep on reading for a simple fall tea recipe that is sure to warm you up!

Why I love ginger. Can you believe how many things ginger is good for!?!

Disclaimer 2: By no means am I making health claims below. I am only sharing what has worked for us. As always, you are responsible for your own health and the decisions you make.

4 quick reasons why I love ginger:

  • As a child, I got carsick, (a lot!) and it was miserable, as you can imagine. But at some point my dear mother had the idea of buying ginger ale and putting cans of it under my seat in the van. That pretty much took care of the problem. To this day, when I feel sick, the first thing I go for is ginger.
  • When my siblings and I got sick, or had sinus infections, mom would put us in a tub of warm water with ground ginger powder and we would “sweat off” the infection. (Ginger elevates the body’s temperature and helps naturally fight off the “bad guys”)
  • When I was juicing, ginger root was the perfect thing to add to a juice. Giving a bland juice a bit of a bite. 🙂
  • I also love my ginger infused water kefir.
  • A wonderful spice for baking. Think gingerbread and pumpkin pie!

When Amanda, creator and editor of the Natural Herbal Living magazine asked for bloggers to review October’s issue, I was quick to offer. Why? Well October’s issue focused on… you guessed it, ginger!

Imagine: each month, a different e-magazine, focused on a different herb. Another really cool thing is you can also get a box of stuff that goes along with the monthly herb.

This month’s herb was ginger and the box contained: ground ginger, ginger root, different oils and a few other things, as well as an instruction sheet with ideas and ways to make different things that articles in the magazine talked about.

I missed getting the ginger box, because it should’ve been ordered by the 15th of last month. This is done to insure the proper amounts are gathered and to insure freshness.

However, because I love ginger, I already had most of what I needed. 🙂 I loved the simplicity of the magazine, how it is set up, and the monthly themes. Just by reading, I was able to learn more about ginger root, uses for ginger oil, about the flower essence and more.

Useful information such as using ginger for migraines, ear infections and other things, was found in this issue, and there were even some fun kid friendly things to do as well!

Next month is a Rose issue. Now I know very little about roses, other than they are pretty in my flower beds and smell good. As a result I have ordered the rose box and am looking forward to learning more about the herbal qualities of roses and what all they are good for. 🙂

If you are wanting to learn more about herbs and naturally improving your health, I highly recommend this program!  Remember: If you want November’s box, you need to order before the 15th of this month.

Back to how I love ginger: Here is the simple fall tea I promised you.

1 tablespoon of raw honey
1/8 – /14 teaspoon ground ginger
10 ounces hot water.

Mix the honey and ginger together first, then pour the hot water over it and enjoy. Because ginger is spicy, you may want to start with the lesser amount and work your way up, till you know what amount works for you.

I plan to start sharing a review of what I get and what I learn each month when I get my box, so stay tuned!
