Family Friendly Las Vegas: Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

Family Friendly Las Vegas: Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay 6

Family Friendly Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the top vacation destinations in the US, but is known to be an adults only kind of place. There is so much to do and see around Las Vegas that is geared towards families and children, and we are here to prove it! Follow our Family Friendly Las Vegas tour, and get some awesome ideas on how to turn “Sin City” into a “Family Party”!

Shark-Reef Shark Reef Aquarium Wall

With two boys who love animals, we like to visit anything animal related when we travel! In Las Vegas, one of the fun animal stops is the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay! A gorgeous aquarium designed to resemble old temples is full of all kinds of sea life your children are sure to love!Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

There was so much to see throughout the Shark Reef, including jellyfish, horeshoe crabs, so many different species of fish and of course SHARKS! My older son thought he might be scared of the sharks but ended up loving them the most out of all of the 2,000 animals displayed in the reef!

The favorite stop on our visit to the Shark Reef was the shipwreck room! Set up to look like you are inside of a ship, the surrounding aquarium scenes include what looks like the remains of a shipwreck. You look out into the blue to see different fish and sharks swimming around the old wood and the kids thought this was just too cool! Shark Reef Shipwreck

And of course, the aquarium tunnels (there are two of them) were loved by both boys! They were thrilled to be surrounded by fish no matter where they looked.

My only complaint was that the parking lot closest to the Shark Reef was closed for construction during our visit and we had a very long walk from the casino’s self parking lot. If it is still under construction when you visit and have members of your group who can’t walk too far, there is an entrance you can drop them off at before parking in the self parking lot.

Dont miss out on this fun underwater experience if you are visiting Las Vegas with your kids-what a great way to spend your afternoon and give your family a completely visual learning experience!

If you are looking to visit a few attractions while in Las Vegas, I HIGHLY recommend buying the “3 for $57 Package“. Choose any three of the following: Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, BODIES…The Exhibition, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, SCORE! Interactive Sports Exhibit, Adventuredome Theme Park, CSI: The Experience, Roller Coaster at NYNY or Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay and pay only $57. This is a REALLY great deal!
