Grand Sierra Resort: Bringing Family Fun To Reno
They say the best thing you can do with your kids is travel, and I couldn’t agree more. Traveling, no matter the destination, is something your kids will look back on one day and cherish. It’s the memories, the laughter, and the quality time that can never be replaced.
Recently I had the opportunity to travel with my children to Reno, Nevada. If you’ve never been there before, it’s time to plan your trip. If you have been there before, but it’s been several years, it’s time to come back. Reno is changing for the better. Not only is it surrounded by beautiful landscapes and artwork all around the city, but there are a lot of really cool family events happening throughout the year as well.
When traveling with a family, it’s hard to decide where you want to stay. Hotels that are safe definitely take priority, but hotels that offer family-friendly amenities, come in second. Recently I took my kids to one of my favorite hotels in Reno – Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. You may be wondering why I took them to stay in a hotel connected to a casino, but honestly, this hotel is so much more and probably one of my favorite hotels I have ever stayed in recently with my family.
Grand Sierra Resort and Casino has a lot to offer families. Not only are there really cool places to eat, like Cantina, Johnny Rockets, and Yogurt Beach, but there’s a fun bowling alley and an outside area with a heated pool, hot tubs, and even a splash pad area for the little ones.
The pool area is impressive, to say the least. Sure, swimming year round is great, but the fire pit seating areas had us coming back every evening. You can order food, drinks, and s’mores without having to leave your seat.
I will say the service was extremely slow both nights we went down, but the area is still new, and they were understaffed for the number of guests. We made the best of it and took the downtime to sit and chat with one another and make the most of our time together.
When you are ready to call it a night, the rooms are incredibly spacious and QUIET. Which is important when traveling with children. My 7-month-old is a very light sleeper, and staying in a destination where people come to party, can make a parent nervous. We had no issues with outside noise during this stay and our prior stay the year before.
I can’t recommend Grand Sierra Resort and Casino enough for your traveling needs. If your children are older, you can even check what concerts are happening at the hotel during your travels. The area is intimate and the perfect venue for your kids’ first show.
