HABA Lilliputiens: a world full of little wonders
Get ready to make stories come to life with Lilliputiens, a wonderful line of Belgian toys distributed in the U.S. exclusively by HABA!
At our house, we love HABA toys because they are an environmentally conscious company that makes many wooden products. When I learned about the Lilliputiens line, made available here by HABA, I jumped at the chance to review their product.
Lilliputiens is based in Belgium and its toys are made by hand with care in Asia. The toys, patterns, fabrics, characters, are all 100% its own creations, designed by a team of five young and trend-conscious moms who ensure that in a world full of little wonders, every toy has its own fun story. Lilliputiens’ numerous mascots each have their own magical universe. Soft materials and disarming characters engender trust, while the many shapes, colors and noises will continuously challenge a child’s inquisitive spirit. Designs and fabulous fabrics necessitate hand sewn, hand made results.
The Wolf Hand Puppet and Three Little Pigs, designed for ages 3 months and up, was the perfect choice for my son. Each pig is a finger puppet and is designed to match its house. What a perfect opportunity to use matching and sorting skills! The wolf is a soft hand puppet that also doubles as storage for the pigs and their houses, making it easy to clean up and take on the road.
My son loves having me be the pigs while he is the wolf, huffing and puffing the houses down. He also has fun hiding the pigs inside their houses when I pretend to be the wolf. This puppet set was an instant hit and had to go with our family out to brunch the very day it arrived at our house! This was the perfect chance to test out storing everything inside the wolf and transporting it. Everything fit and the puppets joined us without a hitch. I love toys that are easy for toddlers and preschoolers to clean up and carry independently.
The three little pigs and wolf puppets are also building important developmental skills. As I mentioned earlier, the pigs can be matches with their houses by how they are designed. Also, retelling stories and pretending are developmentally appropriate for young children! Lastly, because this puppet set has 4 puppets (3 finger puppets and the wolf puppet), it can be played with in small groups, building those much needed social skills for little ones.
Impressed by quality and creativity, this is a toy I am glad to see my son returning to play with time and time again.
