Pizza Burgers!
Hands down, these are my husband’s all-time favorite meal! When I want to cook a special meal for him, it’s not steak and potatoes, it’s pizza burgers! My-mother-in-law handed this recipe down to me when my husband and I got married—it was his favorite as a kid and it still is as a big kid!
I have to admit, I’m also now hooked on these delicious burgers. If I haven’t made them in a couple of weeks, I start to crave them! Not only will your family like these burgers, they will insist that they end up in your recipe rotation!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 3 tablespoons instant onion mix
- ½ cup sliced green olives
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 Tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 6 slices mozzarella cheese
- 6 hamburger buns
Instructions:
Step 1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet and drain.
Step 2. Add onion mix, olives, tomato sauce, tomato paste, cheddar cheese, oregano, salt and pepper. Let simmer on low for 10 minutes.
Step 3. Meanwhile, place foil on a baking sheet. Lightly butter hamburger buns and place butter side up on baking sheet.
Step 4. Place meat mixture on the bottom of each bun and place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of meat mixture.
Step 5. Broil on high for two to three minutes or until cheese is golden brown and hamburger buns are lightly toasted.
Step 6. Take hamburgers out of oven and serve immediately.
