Sweet, Delectable, Stovetop Cinnamon Apples

ByGuest Updated onMarch 31, 2023 Everyday

Apples make some of the best desserts—apple pie, apple crisp, apple dumplings, baked cinnamon apples! I was craving apple dumplings recently, but am trying a 30-day fitness program and didn’t want to ruin all my hard work with a warm apple dumpling with ice cream. So I started the search for cinnamon apples, thinking that would be a sweet, yet low-calorie, dessert. Everything I found online was for baking apples in the oven and seemed to be loaded with calories. Also, not wanting to take the time to make a sauce or bake apples in the oven, I decided to try out cooking apples on the stovetop.

You don’t need much to make these Stovetop Cinnamon Apples:

  • 4-6 apples (my favorite for any baking/cooking are Granny Smith apples)
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • Raisins–these are optional. My son loves raisins, so I thought I’d toss them in. I also think nuts might be good in this recipe, but I haven’t tried them yet.
  • Butter (just enough to melt in the bottom of your pan)
  • 2 tablespoons of water

Step 1:

Core and cut your apples. I didn’t even peel my apples!

Step 2:

Mix together all the other ingredients in a small bowl. Add them to the bowl of sliced apples, tossing well.

Step 3:

Melt about a half to one tablespoon of butter in the bottom of your pan. Add your two tablespoons of water and apple mixture to the pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring from time to time, for about 10-15 minutes.

There you have it! A sweet, delectable, easy, low-calorie, cinnamon apple dessert sure to please your entire family!
