Daughter Is Furious, Mom ‘Repurposed’ Her Bedroom

Moving out of home is usually quite a big deal for a college student, becoming a responsible adult and becoming your own person (with student debt).

However, we all get homesick sometimes, and it would be nice to return to a familiar place where we can get away from it all. But things escalated quickly for a woman and her daughter who moved out. Here’s what happened.

Daughter Is Furious, Mom ‘Repurposed’ Her Bedroom

OP, let’s call her Kristee, is a family woman with a daughter called Meg. Meg is 18 years old and is in college. She moved away from home entirely and moved in with her boyfriend, leaving her childhood bedroom empty.

Growing Up

Now, Kristee’s home isn’t the biggest on the block, and her living room is a little on the small side. So, with Meg moving out, she expanded her living room by using the extra space that had become available from Meg’s empty room.

So, Kristee had the wall to Meg’s room knocked out, refloored the extra space, and fixed up the walls so it would match with the rest of the living room, turning the small living room into a larger area. It didn’t even look like there had ever been a bedroom, and it was as though they always had a spacious one.

Renovation

What People Think Bedrooms are a safe space where we can be most comfortable, with memories that carry pertinence attached to the place. One user keeps it simple and explains to Kristee that a couch won’t replace that.

Another use with a similar situation explains how it makes sense for the parents to use their space, but talking to the child goes a long way in making them feel loved.
