5 Reasons a Homemaker Needs a Planner.

5 reasons a homemaker needs a planner

I recently went through a little mind change which I will explain in a minute. But first, here are 5 reasons a homemaker needs a planner.

5 reasons a homemaker needs a planner5 Reasons a Homemaker Needs a Planner:

  1. Sticky notes lose their sticky.
  2. Phone batteries die.
  3. Appointment cards get lost.
  4. Brains forget.
  5. A homemaker’s life is busy.

Okay, now that I have those 5 reasons a homemaker needs a planner, out there for you, I will try and explain how I went through a mind change.

About 6 weeks ago Sue Hooley, owner of the Homemaker’s Friend website and store, contacted me and wanted me to try and review her planners.

Now, I have tried planners in the past. Not impressed. My daily planner sat mostly empty and it was stuffed full of “sticky notes that lost their sticky”.  My blogging planner really didn’t suit my needs either. There were just to many different things I didn’t need and what I did need wasn’t there at all.

So since I have several different planners sitting empty, I nicely emailed her back and said I didn’t like planners.

She promptly emailed me back and said that she liked people like me, because if she could change my mind…..

Well I like people like her. She is confident and positive about her business.  I had to think it over for awhile, but in the end I emailed her back and said if the offer still stands I would give her planner a try.

How has it worked out for me?  Well:

  • I no longer have a pile of scrap papers lying beside my desk.
  • Important dates and events are now all in one place instead of a calendar here, and my phone, and papers taped to the walls.
  • I’m starting to feel like I’ve actually got something done during the day instead of chasing my tail all the time.
  • My blogging stuff is all in one spot as well!

Sue was right (man do I hate having to admit that I am wrong!), I really do like her planner. It is well to call it the homemaker’s friend.

With a yearly, monthly and weekly view, it’s easy to see important dates. With a task list and section for projects, it’s easy to see which one, of the half a dozen projects I have going needs to be tackled first.

Here is the monthly view. Along the right hand side of the page is a list for tasks that need done that month.  I write in important dates here, but I mainly use the monthly planner, as a way to track and plan blog posts. 🙂

This is the section I like. There is a task list for the week. Then for each day there is a section and within that section, there is an area for you to write in your menu for that day. I don’t use that section, but then I don’t make out menus either.  The night before, or first thing in the morning I write in what I need to do that day. I feel that it helps me stay on track a little better, than if I just look at my mess house, and try to do it all at once.

In the back is something else that is pretty cool; perforated shopping lists!

The homemaker’s friend sells for $13.99, and if you buy a 2014 planner now, you don’t have to wait until January to start using your planner because for a limited time you will get a free 2013 planner with your purchase of the 2014 planner!

Check out all the features of the planner on the Homemaker’s Friend site and learn for yourself the 5 reasons a homemaker needs a planner!

Disclaimer: I was sent a copy of this planner in exchange for a fair and honest review.
