Omelette in a Bag
Here’s a great way to host a tasty breakfast without the mess.
Host an Omelette In A Bag Bar!!!
I am not sure where the idea originally came from, but this is something my mom has been doing for a long while, and I’m going to share this fun idea with you all today!
First, you’ll want to prepare. You’ll need quart-sized Ziplock Freezer bags. Make sure they’re freezer, and I suggest not going generic brand for this.
What else do you need?
2 Eggs Per Person
Milk
And any combination of the below ingredients:
Bacon- cooked, drained and chopped
Crumbled sausage, cooked
Ham
Tomatoes
Green Onions
White Onions
Cheese of your choice, grated
Spinach
Mushrooms
Peppers
Salsa
Salt
Pepper
Did I forget anything?? Get creative!
Here’s what you do!
Start by boiling a lot of water in a big stock pot (or your biggest pot) . Set up the ingredients in their own bowls, buffet style. Have the Ziplock Freezer bags, eggs and milk at the front of the line. Have each person start at the front of the line cracking their two eggs into a bowl and adding a splash of milk, then beat it a little. Pour it into the bag. You can pre-beat the eggs and milk for a simpler start, too! Just make sure to have the equivalent of two eggs go into each bag.
Go down the line and add ingredients as you like them! When you finish adding all the tasty treats you would like in your omelette, zip the bag closed, squeezing all the air out as you go.
Drop the bags into the pot of boiling water a few at a time and boil for 15 minutes.
Remove with tongs, open the bag, slide the omelette out, and top with a little more cheese! Add a little sour cream, salsa or guacamole if you please, too!
So easy, with no worries about the omelette sticking, making a mess or taking too long! They can all be finished at the same time for a wonderful sit down breakfast! Just add mimosas!
*IF you want to make a three-egg omelette like hubby likes, make sure and cook longer, like 18 minutes or more.
