Romantic Dining in Troy and Tipp City Ohio

Just in time for Valentine’s day, a group of bloggers and I are sharing our hometown romantic places to eat. So if romantic dining in Troy and Tipp City Ohio doesn’t apply to you, here is a full list of Romantic Places to Eat.
Jason and I don’t eat out a lot. I’m sure we eat out far more than some, and far less than others. Regardless, we like to eat at a nice restaurant about once a month. For a full-time working momma, it’s a lovely break from cooking, and really nice to finish eating and leave the dishes for someone else!
When we were first married, eating out couldn’t just happen any ol’ time. I have always been good with budgeting and brought a savings to our union; on the other hand, dear hubby came into marriage with a few debts. My savings cleared his debts and we started with a basically blank slate.
Even though we had never heard of “the envelope method” which is highly promoted by a well known person who’s name escapes me at the moment. We did use envelopes to save money. Anytime Jason would earn a little cash from a side job, and anytime I would get a babysitting side job, we stashed the money into an envelope. With that money we were able to enjoy a dinner out on occasion.
If there is ever a time to enjoy a night out with your love, that would be valentines. No mess, no dishes, just you and hubby. Here’s our tip: Celebrate Valentines on the 13th or 15th. 🙂
So, without further ado, I present according to dear hubby and I:
Romantic Dining in Troy and Tipp City Ohio
The Caroline on the Square
Located in the historic section of downtown Troy, The Caroline is classic American dining with a warm inviting atmosphere. I have heard that their steaks are to-die-for but since I’m a fishy type of girl, all I can say is, the fish is amazing! Jason will vouch for their gourmet burgers.
Their entree items run from a little under $10 to a little over $30 depending on your taste. Classic salads, appetizers and desserts also make up their menu. If you are looking for romantic dining in in the historic section of Troy this would definitely be the place to go.
If you are looking to do a bit of shopping before or after your romantic dining experience, please allow me to recommend Harrison’s, which is located in the historical section of Tipp City.
Not only is the atmosphere warm and welcoming, the menu is strangely diverse with something for everyone.
There are over a dozen appetizers to choose from, 8 different salads, burgers, wraps, paninis, steaks and 10 entree items. I’m nearly positive that we have enjoyed deserts there as well, but I am unable to find their dessert menu online.
Coldwater Cafe
Located in an old bank building in the historic downtown section of Tipp City, Coldwater Cafe is an experience not to be missed. There is a cozy fire place and the layout of the place creates many cozy semi private booths.
Their menu is something of interest. Offering more than your typical cafe fare, Coldwater Cafe also offers sea bass, duck, and ostrich to name a few of their more interesting entrees. And let me tell you… Their cakes are to DIE for!
Sakai Japanese Bistro
I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing like flaming food to say I love you. (Unless it’s in your oven and the smoke alarms are going off!)
Sakai offers hibachi grill dining, so you get dinner and a show. We’ve ate there twice now and the foods are absolutely the best! If you are not into hibachi, or want a more private dining experience, you could request a booth, or table.
The first time we went, we were unsure of the prices and worried it would be out of our price range. However that wasn’t the case. We like to buy and share one appetizer, one entree and one desert and we are usually satisfied with that. Last time we did that, our cost before tax and tip was right at $30. So very reasonable pricing for great food.
La Fiesta
While La Fiesta may not offer a lot in the romantic part, they HAD to make my list. They just had too. If you live near Troy Ohio and haven’t ate at La Fiesta, you are missing out. This is probably our FAVORITE Mexican restaurant to eat at.
I mean, what’s not to love? Fast service, free chips and salsa (I could make a meal out of just that!), and wonderfully large portions. I order my favorites and smile, knowing the leftovers will become lunch the next day.
Prices and menu choices are typical of most Mexican places, but the taste is over the top. Really, I’m getting hungry just thinking about their nachos supreme, or their fajitas. 🙂
Honorable Mentions:
All of the restaurants I’ve mentioned so far, are small family owned (I think) and cannot be found just anywhere. They are unique places for romantic dining in Troy and Tipp City Ohio. However, Troy has a few chain restaurants close that we enjoy visiting on occasion and they would also be nice places to take your love on Valentine’s day.
- Outback Steak House
- Red Lobster
- Ruby Tuesdays
- Chilli’s
- Applebee’s
I hope you enjoyed reading through this list, and I really hope you get to try some of these places someday. Really, they are just. that. good.
Do you have a favorite restaurant for romantic dining? I would love to hear about it!
